Stel dat het waar was wat John Bex op maandag 6 september 2004 om 1 uur 20 mailde aan Michel van Rijn, wat had dan de toorn van Ali Aboutaam gewekt? Wel, allereerst een mailtje van “Jim Wayne” van 1 september om 17 uur 59. Een dreigend mailtje:

“Dear mr. Aboutaam,

Your customer had the idea untill now to have a reliable business associate in you, he wonders what must have happened for you not to invite him anymore. You promised him to see him on the 15th of this month which you did not (Wayne bedoelt in zijn zenuwen waarschijnlijk 15 augustus, red.).
Your customer invites you to sit together to avoid misunderstandings and explain to you what has happened, and I would like to stress to you your customer is not a everyday visitor but a powerful business man in which business without him is not possible in your trade.
Please eather call him today or write me why, if you do not see a reason to meet him on the short term. And be sure to understand who you are dealing with.
Awaiting your answer before next monday. After monday we will publish.
Understand this is bad for business, so please speak to your customer.
Jim.”

Kortgezegd, Ali Aboutaam had een afspraak met Ali Farag laten lopen en daar was Farag knap pissig over geworden. Eerst ging hij op de stoep bij Aboutaam’s shop staan te brullen (1) en vervolgens liet hij Wayne dus een mailtje in steenkool-Engels sturen waarin hij dreigde de publiciteit te zullen zoeken als Aboutaam niet stante pede contact met hem zocht. Dat het voorgestelde gesprek niet over de kwaliteit van de kebab in Genève ging is impliciet. En Aboutaam nam maatregelen. You bet. En stay tuned.
